Location: Columbus, OH
Owner: State of Ohio DOT
Completed: June 2012
We installed aproximately 4,300 lineal feet of 54” RCP jacking pipe utilizing our Akkerman SL60 Microtunneling equipment. This project was located directly under Interstate 670 in downtown Columbus Ohio. The logistics of this job were very difficult, getting materials and equipment on and off of the Interstate highway required concise planning to prevent any traffic disruptions. The soil conditions on the project were very coarse sands and rocks. The project also involved six liner plate shafts for access pits and needed to be dewatered to prevent quick conditions. The project was very successful being completed on schedule and for the original budget.
This project won the National Award of Merit in the Transportation Category from the Design-Build Institute of America.
