Super Excavators began tunneling many years ago.
In 1985 when Super Excavator’s began to expand from underground utilities into the tunneling market, it mostly involved hand mining tunnels. Beginning in the 1990’s, we expanded further into large scale TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) projects. Since then, we have gained tremendous experience in both soft ground and rock tunneling. The projects that we have successfully completed range in various sizes, from four feet up to twenty-three feet in diameter. Tunnel lining applications include jacking pipe, pre-cast segmental lining, as well as ribs and lagging with reinforced concrete pipe lining grouted in place. There are many advantages to tunneling including limiting disturbances, reduced costs of utility and facility relocations, and environmental considerations. Super Excavators has found success and new challenges in this marketplace and looks forward to continued success in this highly specialized area of construction.
Super Excavators completed our first microtunnel project for the City of Brookfield in 2001, and have been contracting microtunneling projects ever since. Over the last eleven years we have developed a microtunnel team that is second to none in the United States, and together we have successfully installed more than 80,000 lineal feet of microtunnel to date. The projects that we have completed range in size from twenty-four inches to eighty-five inches in diameter and include a wide range of varying ground conditions including wet sands and silts to cobbles/boulders and even solid bedrock. Super Excavators, Inc. has multiple microtunneling equipment spreads, including a pilot-tube microtunnel system, and is capable of operating multiple projects throughout North America simultaneously.
We offer Deep Foundation and Earth Retention Systems including Drilled Shafts, Driven Piles, Micropiles, Sheet Pile Cofferdams, Soil Nail Earth Retention Systems, Soldier Pile and Lagging System, Specialty Drilling and Excavation, Helical Pier Foundations and Tiebacks, Specialty Grouting and Slope Stabilization System. With our other services, we have the ability to drill a 1” diameter grouted tie rod to an 18’ diameter access shaft. Our best work is buried underground!
Open Cut Utilities
Open Cut Utilities
Open cut trenching of sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and water mains is one of Super Excavator’s core services that roots back to our beginning in 1950. There are many benefits to open cut utility installation including the ability to cost effectively replace older and smaller pipes with larger piping to increase the lifespan of an aged system. We perform this service for Municipalities, Developers, and Industrial Sites. Super Excavators will do this work in any type of ground condition and no job is too big. We currently run ten open cut crews, two mason crews, one testing crew, and one restoration crew. This combined with our innovative management staff, allows us to keep projects on schedule and meet tough deadlines. We have one of the finest labor forces in the State of Wisconsin, and a commendable safety record.
SX Blasting has been assisting the upper Midwest with their rock blasting needs for the last five years. We have the ability to do subdivision and site work, road cuts, ponds, trench rock, tower foundations, deep excavations, shafts, and radio towers. We are proud of our reputation for safety and quality of work done for our customers.
Do you need Super Excavators to perform site work, including the installation of new roadways and parking lots, river re-alignment and shoreline restoration? Do you need help constructing your industrial park or subdivision? WE CAN DIG IT! Super Excavators has been shaping Wisconsin's infrastructure for the last 52 years, and we have the ability to tackle any size project. We utilize GPS technology for increased accuracy and efficiency, and we are well equipped to staff projects with multiple crews if the site is large enough. Slip Lining is a form of rehabilitation of pipelines that has many key benefits including: minimal impact on traffic, reduced surface disruption, and it is often more cost effective and reliable than open cut or cured-in-place solutions. Super Excavators often performs this work for municipalities as a form of trench less rehabilitation which often allows the full structural rehabilitation of an existing pipe.
We are continuing our efforts to dive into the trench less technologies with Pipe Bursting. Pipe bursting is a great method of rehabbing existing pipelines, and is accomplished by pulling a new pipe into an existing pipe statically or pneumatically. The key benefits to pipe bursting include lower surface restoration costs, reduced surface disruptions, minimization of traffic disruption, and unlike CIPP it provides a new pipe with will increase the life of the system.
